Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi is an LEA maintained School and was established following amalgamation of Cardigan Infant School and Cardigan Junior school in September 2008. The school is located in the historic market town of Cardigan on the river Teifi estuary, home of the first Eisteddfod and start of both the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion Coastal paths. The majority of the children who attend our school are from the town itself, however many pupils now travel from further distances.

Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi is a school where every child matters. We are committed to providing a high-quality inclusive education in an environment that enables all our children to succeed. The education we provide is carefully matched to the learning needs of individual children and pupil voice plays an important part within our school. Our aim is to provide a caring, happy, inspiring environment where your child can feel safe and secure.

We educate over 430 pupils in a warm, welcoming and caring environment. All staff work conscientiously to ensure that our pupils attain the highest possible standards. We are very proud of our school and work constantly to raise standards for the benefit of all our pupils. Classes are divided into year groups and there are parallel classes of mixed ability running throughout the school. Class sizes vary from 20 to 30 in number. Children are admitted to part-time nursery education the term after their third birthday, and to full-time education the term following their fourth birthday.

The school is a Welsh Medium Primary School in accordance with the Welsh Government guidance on School categories according to Welsh-medium provision. Our aim at YGA is to provide challenging, broad experiences that will enable children to contribute confidently in a bilingual society, and nurture an awareness of their cultural heritage and national identity as citizens of Wales and the world.

We are very proud of our after-school provision and provide a number of enrichment activities after school hours such as: art club; running club; gardening; coding; cookery; netball; rugby, Urdd etc. We also provide opportunities for pupils to compete in a number of sporting activities including football, netball, rugby, athletics, cross-country running, gymnastics and swimming as well as participating in the Urdd eisteddfod.
